Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of Winona Ryder chose her name after the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz is her father as well as Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's father and mother are both Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria, and has half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder relocated with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. There were no electric lights. Ryder became an avid reading book because there was no television. Ryder aged 12 enrolled at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. Her first role was a success on the big screen in 1986 aged 15 years old. old. Ryder had to deal with bullying throughout her high school years.
